Walking festival all set for return
GROUPS of all ages will set out on 40 routes at this year’s Bollington Walking Festival.
The beautiful countryside around Bollington inspired the creation of the festival, now in its seventh year.
This year organisers have 40 walks for all abilities and age ranges. The walks are led by volunteers representing their local walking groups and by Cheshire East Rangers.
Walks range from two to 20 miles and include themed walks with a focus on local history and heritage, photography, art and astronomy, plus a practical navigation course.
Christine Brear, from Bollington Walking Festival Committee, said: “Bollington, with its quaint stone cottages and majestic mills, is surrounded by great walking country ranging from hedgerow fields to the hills towards the Peak District National Park.
“As a Walkers are Welcome town, hospitality is assured with a wide range of pubs, eating places and places to stay. There is also a variety of entertainment arranged during the week.
“We welcome feedback and for the first time, your favourite walking photos can be posted on our Facebook page for everyone to share.
“For further details on these great opportunities to walk and enjoy the beautiful surroundings pick up a leaflet from the Bridgend Centre, Bollington Town Council offices, plus other local venues or visit our website.”
Details are in the festival programme which is available at bollingtonwalkingfestival. co.uk and local outlets.
The Bridgend Centre is again acting as the hub for the festival.
