●● THE news that the King’s school WILL move to Prestbury has sparked debate on our Facebook page.

Ray Edge: With this school and the other home building proposals, soon there will be no green belt left in Macclesfield. Yes, growth and expansion is needed but at what cost? How many homes does Macclesfield need, I’m in support of building on the old sites, I’m sure there are plenty more, brown field sites that can be developed

Jon Tilley: I am sad that a beautiful area of countryside will be concreted over. I drove out of Stoke towards Middlewich a few months ago, I had to travel for seven miles through urban sprawl before meeting ‘countryside’, I noticed because I was desperate for a pee. Is this what Cheshire East wants for the whole of our beautiful countryside. At the same time, if you want to develop brown field sites you will have to pay a ‘amenity charge’ of around £6,000 per property.

Paul ‘Wakey’ Wakefield: The roads are congested as it is with the existing school’s and leisure facilities. Residents unable to park or access their garages at certain times due to school runs and the parked vehicles waiting for the school kids. So what will another school add to the mix? How will Four Lane Ends cope?

Alexander Lawton Truswell: Even if you forget about the greenbelt, it’s just a poor location for a large school! There is no proper infrastructure to cater for it! This is planning blunder #245.

Dave Thompson: No respect for our beautiful countryside and nature.

Sharon Gray: Its hard to park now where I live. No chance stuck between Fallie, Upton and now Kings. Roads will be mad.

Christine Bowers: No great surprise there I suppose, just have to hope they landscape the areas around new school to take into consideration local wildlife.

Geoff Mason: Sad sad very sad.....the King’s School Prestbury doesn’t sound right....building on Green belt doesn’t sound right..going against public opinion doesn’t sound right. Vikki Ward: Disgusted! Ben Phillips: What a shame.

Gavin Renfrew: Sad to lose King’s history. Dark day in my opinion.

Steve Clarke: Well it’s not in Macclesfield any more isn’t it? Isn’t the site in Prestbury now? ●● A CAMPAIGN to keep a school bus for students travelling from Bollington to Tytherington still gets people talking.

Mandy Reed: If they haven’t decided yet please let me put my two-penneth in. I don’t want to pay for other people’s kids to get to school. I think that is up to the children’s parents to provide for. Why is it that today’s parents expect everything for their children for free. Nothing is free. Someone has to pay! These people need to realise that the government does not MAKE money, the government TAKES money. It takes it from other people.

Zoe Marie Oakes: Well I support the head teacher. My lad walks but we only live at Tivvy but most of children live in Bolly and Middlewood Way is not safe.

Ant Michael Rollinson: They’re not “free” buses they’re funded by the taxpayer. Try educating your kids to use them long things below the waist called legs instead of waiting for the taxpayer. I’m already paying for their education, is that not enough?

Frank Fisher: The Middlewood Way is fine, I cycle it most days. What it could do with is better lighting along the full length and I’m surprised the council haven’t offered that concession.

Liz Regan: I may be wrong, but I don’t think this was about the money, more about the fact that, a. The Middlewood way is NOT safe for students to walk to and from school and, b. the buses need to stay as there is NO other safe route to walk.

Maybe those objecting to paying for other kids to get to school, would prefer that they all walk along the Silk Road? It’s simple really, our children HAVE TO BE SAFE and the buses continuing to transport these children MUST CONTINUE.

Lastly, I for one, am prepared to continue to support this issue in order for, not just my grandchildren, but for ALL children, it’s their right to be kept SAFE.

Let me know please where and when for round two, ding ding.
