Collectors needed to do vital work for Marie Curie

A CHARITY that provides vital support for patients with terminal illnesses is looking for volunteers to help raise much needed cash.

Marie Curie is asking local people to volunteer to be part of an upcoming house-to-house collection appeal in Macclesfield to help raise vital funds to support people living with terminal illnesses.

The collection campaign will be taking place in October and the charity needs volunteer house-to-house collectors from all over the Macclesfield area to help make the appeal a success and raise much needed funds for Marie Curie.

Jessica Herrington, community fundraiser, said: “House-to-house collections are a great way to raise money locally in support of Marie Curie.

“It really is a very easy and simple way to volunteer; all you need to do is let us know which street you would like to cover and then it’s just a matter of dropping our official Marie Curie collection envelopes through letterboxes and returning a few days later to pick them up.

“Most people who volunteer as part of the appeal tend to cover the street they live on, and perhaps even a neighbouring street too.

“We have a team of lovely volunteer collection organisers in the local area who will confirm all the arrangements for your collection with you and also supply everything you need in terms of an ID badge, collection envelopes and a short guide to being part of the appeal.”

Olive Hoare is a Marie Curie Nurse. She said: “As a house-to-house collector, you’re part of a wonderful team of people around the country who do more than most to keep me and my fellow nurses right where we need to be, by the side of people and families living with terminal illness.

“Believe me, it makes all the difference in the world. Thank you.”
