Bridal boss marks first year

-

A LAWYER who ditched her career to take over a bridal shop is about to celebrate her first anniversary in business.

Emma Boycott has been running Maria Modes on Churchill Way for the last 11 months.

She took over the shop from the founders, Paul and Mary Gregory, who retired after trading for 10 years.

Emma, 28, is from Yorkshire and is the only child of legendary cricketer turned commentator Geoffrey Boycott.

After graduating from Leeds University with a first class law degree, Emma started her legal career at international law firm Pinsent Masons, specialising in commercial litigation, particularly sports litigation.

After fours years, Emma decided she would rather put in the long hours demanded by her job into a business of her own.

A chance meeting with the Gregorys put her on her new path.

Emma, who lives in Wilmslow, said: “It has been a great first year. Since I took over I have built on the impressive selection of wedding dress designers and added a bridesmaid range.

“I have also increased the men’s formal department, adding the latest trends and slim fit options meaning they now offer one of the most comprehensive collections of men’s and boy’s formal wear to hire or buy.

“I also have plans to expand into prom and evening wear.”
