New pastor hits the right note with church’s congregation
AN internationally known gospel musician and speaker has been appointed as the new Pastor at Tytherington Family Worship Church.
Steve Parsons, 44, has released nine solo albums since 1993 and has toured extensively throughout the UK, as well as in the USA, Australia, Ireland, France, Spain, Malta, Norway, Malaysia, Vietnam and Africa.
He has shared his songs in venues ranging from small coffee houses to the London Arena and is also featured on various compilation albums.
Church elder Bob Boland said: “Steve is a keen observer of life and is known for blending his songs, stories and a refreshing honesty into a compelling form of communication.
“He is a down-to-earth and engaging communicator, who also regularly speaks at churches, conferences and events around the UK.
“His messages are firmly rooted in his pastoral role in his local church, with a focus on helping people move forward in their relationship with God, in order to live out that relationship in their daily lives.”
Bob added: “His gift for storytelling and love for expounding the scriptures are coupled with a passion for engaging with those outside the church.”
Steve said he was delighted to be joining Tytherington Family Worship Church and said he was looking forward to working with such an active local place of worship.
He said: “In a day and age where we are told that people are not interested in going to church any more, Tytherington Family Worship Church is certainly bucking the trend.
“In fact there are many good, active, well attended churches throughout the whole area of Macclesfield and East Cheshire, and that’s really good to see.”
Steve was welcomed by a packed church congregation at his first service, a turnout he hopes will continue.
He said: “We were welcomed so enthusiastically by people of all ages during our first service and the church certainly lives up to the ‘family’ name.”
Services at the church are held at 10.30am every Sunday morning, with other community activities taking place throughout the week, including breakfast meet-ups, a dementia support group and many more.
