Luke gets ready for blast off!
Name: Luke Clayton. Hometown: Macclesfield. Job: I have just finished my degree and am now training to be an accountant. Which theatre company are you involved with?: Macclesfield Majestic Theatre Group. Are you taking part in any productions at the moment?: I am playing Cookie in the MMTG’s forthcoming production of Return to the Forbidden Planet. Who is your character in the play?: The spaceship’s cook, Cookie who falls hopelessly in love with Miranda, Prospero’s daughter and has to compete with the captain for her affections. How long have you been with the society for?: 16 years now. I started when I was very small as a junior dancer in the pantomimes and then progressed to the chorus and main parts. What do you like/dislike about the character you are currently playing?: Hopefully everybody will feel sorry for Cookie as he is a bit of a lovelorn fool and we have all felt like that at some time of our lives. What do you most enjoy?: I like bringing the comedy out of a role. Have you been in any other productions?: Yes, last year I played Prince Rupert in the group’s panto, Sleeping Beauty and I was nominated for an award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association. Who is your favourite actor and why?: Dame Judi Dench because she is so versatile and a national treasure. If you could play any part what would it be and why?: Drew Boley in Rock of Ages – his songs are really high and it would test my voice to its limit. Are you involved in any other projects at the moment?: Not at the moment but might get involved with our pantomime, Little Mermaid. What do you most enjoy about doing this?: The cast of the show. Everyone gets on with each other and I am loving being part of such a talented bunch of people. Any memorable/funny moments or highlights from this?: There are loads. It is a very funny show and we are all having great fun rehearsing with a robot on roller skates.
