Wed­ding joy for golden cou­ple

OLYMPIC golden cou­ple Ja­son Kenny and Laura Trott tied the knot at a se­cret church cer­e­mony be­fore par­ty­ing with friends at a plush coun­try­side ho­tel.

The new­ly­weds, who live in Chelford, kept the date and lo­ca­tion of their wed­ding a close se­cret, but have fi­nally bro­ken the news to fans af­ter get­ting hitched on Satur­day.

The cou­ple, who have made no se­cret of their love of Macclesfield, chose to get mar­ried at St Al­ban’s Catholic Church on Ch­ester Road, 20 min­utes from their home.

They then had their re­cep­tion at the im­pres­sive Hill­top Coun­try House in Prest­bury, with around 100 friends and fam­ily.

Heart­warm­ing im­ages of Ja­son and Laura shar­ing their first dance were posted on Face­book, with Olympic leg­end Chris Hoy look­ing on in the back­ground.

Fa­ther Peter Burke of St Al­ban’s Church said ev­ery­thing ‘went to plan’ and that Laura and Ja­son had a ‘won­der­ful day’.

He added: “It was ab­so­lutely won­der­ful. They’re an in­cred­i­ble cou­ple and their wed­ding day was full of joy.

“There were around 80 fam­ily and friends there and ev­ery­one had a won­der­ful day. We were very pleased they wanted to get mar­ried at St Al­ban’s, we couldn’t have been hap­pier.”

The cou­ple, who got en­gaged in 2013, have won 10 Olympic gold medals be­tween them and cap­tured the na­tion’s hearts dur­ing this sum­mer’s Rio games.

They are ex­pected to take part in the Olympic pa­rade in Manch­ester on Oc­to­ber 17.

Laura’s fa­ther Adrian took to Twit­ter, post­ing im­ages of the new­ly­weds and say­ing: “So pleased to an­nounce that my dar­ling daugh­ter @Lau­raTrott31 mar­ried @Ja­sonKenny107 yes­ter­day. Thank you to ev­ery­one. A won­der­ful day.”

Ja­son posted a pic­ture of Laura in bed with their dogs the fol­low­ing morn­ing with the cap­tion: ‘Good morn­ing, Mrs Kenny’.
