Wedding joy for golden couple
OLYMPIC golden couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott tied the knot at a secret church ceremony before partying with friends at a plush countryside hotel.
The newlyweds, who live in Chelford, kept the date and location of their wedding a close secret, but have finally broken the news to fans after getting hitched on Saturday.
The couple, who have made no secret of their love of Macclesfield, chose to get married at St Alban’s Catholic Church on Chester Road, 20 minutes from their home.
They then had their reception at the impressive Hilltop Country House in Prestbury, with around 100 friends and family.
Heartwarming images of Jason and Laura sharing their first dance were posted on Facebook, with Olympic legend Chris Hoy looking on in the background.
Father Peter Burke of St Alban’s Church said everything ‘went to plan’ and that Laura and Jason had a ‘wonderful day’.
He added: “It was absolutely wonderful. They’re an incredible couple and their wedding day was full of joy.
“There were around 80 family and friends there and everyone had a wonderful day. We were very pleased they wanted to get married at St Alban’s, we couldn’t have been happier.”
The couple, who got engaged in 2013, have won 10 Olympic gold medals between them and captured the nation’s hearts during this summer’s Rio games.
They are expected to take part in the Olympic parade in Manchester on October 17.
Laura’s father Adrian took to Twitter, posting images of the newlyweds and saying: “So pleased to announce that my darling daughter @LauraTrott31 married @JasonKenny107 yesterday. Thank you to everyone. A wonderful day.”
Jason posted a picture of Laura in bed with their dogs the following morning with the caption: ‘Good morning, Mrs Kenny’.
