Teen with ‘heart of gold’ dies in car horror
ABOY tragically died when he was crushed by a rolling car as he tried to stop it.
Kaden Gowers, 13, had been in his friend’s parent’s car on Fowey Close, off St Austell Avenue, in Macclesfield, before the incident happened at around 9pm on Tuesday, September 20.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the horrific accident, but Kaden died from his injuries.
An inquest, which later opened at Warrington Coroners Court, heard that the handbrake of the car was off and it started rolling. Kaden and a friend got out of the car to try to stop it, but Kaden fell under the car and died from his injuries, the hearing was told.
Christine Hurst, senior coroner’s officer, told the hearing: “Kaden had been in his friend’s parent’s car when the handbrake was inadvertently taken off.
“The car started rolling back.
“Kaden and his friend got out and tried to prevent the car rolling back any further but Kaden fell under the car and sustained fatal injuries.”
The inquest heard that the youngster, who attended All Hallows Catholic College and was born in Salford, died from multiple severe contusions, or bruising, to his head and chest. The hearing was adjourned until a later date.
After his death, tributes had been paid to the ‘popular and friendly’ young man. A fundraising page set up to raise money for his funeral has exceeded its £2,000 target, raising more than £2,600 so far, and Peter Herds bakery in Wilmslow has offered to do the catering for free.
Amy McMahon, who launched the appeal, wrote: “I’m doing this page to raise funds to help my friend, Kerry. On Tuesday her life changed forever when her eldest child, Kaden, had been involved in a serious accident.
“He was a very smart, caring young man who had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone.
“His mum called him a friendly young man who had his whole life ahead of him, and he meant the world to her and his siblings.
“I am doing this page to try and raise funds to help Kerry give the send off her little boy deserves.
