Coffee event in third year

-

A COFFEE afternoon which has become a successful annual event will raise money for cancer.

Francesca Robinson and Kayleigh Welsh first hosted their event in Langley three years ago in aid of Macmillan cancer care.

They wanted to raise money for the charity which has helped people close to them.

This year Francesca is going it alone organising the event but will be busy baking up cakes for those attending.

She said: “After the last two amazingly successful coffee afternoons I have decided to do it again for the third year. This year I’m doing it alone, I must be crazy.

“The total raised in the past two years is £5,000, which I never dreamed would happen and could not have happened without the support of my amazing friends and family plus everyone who has attended and donated.

“Please come down for plenty of tea, coffee and delicious homemade cake and help raise as much money as possible for such an amazing charity.”

Francesca has collected more than 70 raffle prizes from businesses and local supermarkets have donated baking ingredients to help out.

She said: “Macmillan have helped too many people who are very close to me over the last few years and I want to help repay them for all they have done.”

The coffee afternoon is at Langley village hall on Sunday, October 2 from 1pm to 4pm.
