Choristers wanted for society

-

PRESTBURY Choral Society is looking for new members.

The choir’s new season begins in November with a concert at St Peter’s Church in Prestbury.

But the choir has had to adapt make this year’s programme due to the loss of some vital voices from the crew, which means songs which need to be performed in eight parts are not possible.

Cynthia Crewe, from the choir, has been championing the benefits of singing, and is appealing for new singers to join the group.

She said: “At Prestbury Choral Society we’re trying to recruit some new members as we lost a number recently due to people moving away, retiring etc.

“Last season was really successful, but we’re having to tailor this year’s programme to a smaller choir. It will still be great, but music in eight parts will not be possible this year.”

She added: “It’s well-known that singing has always lifted people’s spirits, whether in a karaoke bar, a church choir, or even in the bath!

“It has become really popular in recent years as people realise its benefits to both our physical and mental well-being.”

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at the Methodist Church in Prestbury, and run from 8pm until 10pm.
