Students are thrilled with new school
YEAR seven students at Tytherington School have been sharing their excitement as they start their high school careers.
Tytherington School has welcomed nearly 200 new pupils to its classrooms this month, with the new cohort already settling in and making new friends.
Reuben Halsey, who has come to the high school from Rainow Primary School, said: “I have made lots of new friends. I already knew quite a few of the other students because of the sport which takes place at Tytherington.”
Reuben said he enjoys maths and loved the Maths Challenge which the school runs every year for year six students in the local area.
He added that the older kids have made them feel very welcome.
Most of the students had come to Open Evening last September, including George Lomas from Adlington Primary and Charlie Coldwell from Park Royal Primary.
George said he was looked after by the older students.
He said: “I was greeted by an older student and helped to find my way around school by someone in Year eight”.
Lily Fallon said the fact that international footballer Izzy Christiansen was a pupil at Tytherington helped make her choice easier, and Aliza Bawany, who has come to Tytherington School from Hursthead Junior School in CheadleHulme, has already signed up for several clubs.
Headteacher, Manny Botwe, said: “It is really important that the new Year seven feel really comfortable.
“We encourage the older students to look after the younger ones and invest in teambuilding activities for our new starters. We are really excited by what they will achieve.”
