Woman dies after van crash

A WOMAN has died after being in a collision with a van.

Police received reports of an accident involving a blue Vauxhall van and a pedestrian on Congleton Road, Marton, in Macclesfie­ld, near to The Davenport Arms pub at around 8.53pm on Sunday, October 2.

Sadly the pedestrian, a 69-year-old woman from Rushton Spencer, sustained fatal injuries and later passed away at Royal Stoke Hospital.

Her next of kin have been informed although formal identifica­tion has yet to take place.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the run-up to the incident or just afterwards.

Meanwhile, An elderly woman was taken to hospital after a crash on Congleton Road.

Police were called out to the incident at around 11.30am on Saturday, October 1,after reports of a crash involving two cars.

The elderly woman had became trapped in one of the cars and was suffering from injuries to her arm.

She was freed from the car before being taken to Macclesfie­ld Hospital.

The accident happened around half a mile away from Shenton Garden Supplies towards Knutsford.
