Drink-driver set to lose trees job

-

A TREE surgeon faces losing his job after he was caught drink-driving.

Callum Andrew Whyatt, 27, was initially stopped from getting into his car by his boss, a court was told.

But after police turned up he ran away, returning later to drive the vehicle.

At Macclesfield magistrates’ court, Whyatt, of Craig Road, Macclesfield, admitted drink driving and driving without insurance.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “On Sunday, August 28, at 2.20am PC Baker received information from a member of the public that he had seen a man jump over a wall into a car park and was telling his friend that he was going to drive home.

“When police arrived they found two males on the floor by a vehicle. One was the defendant and another his boss who was preventing him from getting in the car. The defendant then ran off. “Believing the defendant would return to the car the officer began monitoring the CCTV and at 2.40am he saw the car leave the car park.

“The defendant was stopped on Sunderland Street. A breathalyser recorded 70mg, twice the legal limit.”

Whyatt, defending himself, said; “My head was not where it should have been. I will lose my job as a tree surgeon now.”

He was fined £180 and banned from driving for 20 months.
