Music master set to give tips on success

- RHIANNON MCDOWALL

THE music mogul who catapulted the likes of Kylie, Jason Donovan and Rick Astley to pop stardom will be sharing his secrets to success at the town’s business awards.

The North East Cheshire Business awards, which celebrates the best in business right across the area, will welcome Pete Waterman as its guest speaker at the ceremony.

Sue Bowden, from Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce, which is organising the event, says getting the hit maker to join the event is a huge coup for the industry awards.

She said: “I’m delighted to announce that Pete Waterman OBE has agreed to be our guest speaker at the Awards Ceremony this year.

“Pete is probably best known for launching artists such as Kylie, Rick Astley, Steps, and of course for his hugely successful collaboration, Stock Aitken Waterman, and his world-famous PWL label and production company.

“And, of course, he was a Pop Idol judge before Simon Cowell came along!

“More recently he’s turned his focus to business and is on the Board of the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Council, has a passion for railways and HS2, and being from our area will have a view on the Northern Powerhouse.

“He is hugely multi-talented and I know we will be highly entertained at our event on Thursday 17 November at The Mere Resort, so book your tickets early.”

Pete will be giving a speech at the awards, which will be held on Thursday, November 17, at The Mere Resort near Knutsford.

Business have just a few more days to enter the awards, with the deadline closing on Friday (October 7).

There are a total of 11 awards, including:
