Porridge gives students fuel for the autumn term

-

TYTHERINGTON School pupils get a warm feeling inside when they go to class - thanks to a new free porridge initiative.

To make sure students and staff start the day in the right way, the school’s catering providers, Innovate, are trialling the free, healthy breakfasts in the refectory from 8am every morning.

Cooked up by Tytherington School’s head chef, Mark Chapman, pupils and staff are all being encouraged to pop along and get a portion of the vital fuel they need for the day of teaching and learning ahead.

Chief Operating Officer of Innovate, Ken Navin, said: “Innovate are delighted to be working in partnership with Tytherington School and highlighting the importance of a great, healthy breakfast.

“Breakfast is often stated as the most important meal of the day, but it is quite astonishing how many of us simply do not find the time to consume anything prior to committing to our busy daily schedules.

“The health benefits of porridge have been highlighted many times over and we are delighted to be able to offer this menu item on a complementary basis to both students and staff at the school.”

Headteacher, Manny Botwe, said he was pleased that the initiative had also brought pupils and staff together.

He said: “As well as the obvious physical health benefits, I have been really impressed with the impact it has had on the whole school community. We want to encourage more staff and students to eat together.” ●●
