Wholefoods couple full of beans
A COUPLE have realised their dream in opening the town’s first whole foods cafe.
Self-confessed foodies Joe and Emma Hopkins opened the doors to The Button Warehouse two weeks ago.
The cafe only sells fruits, vegetables, lentils, grains, nuts and seeds.
It aims to cater for the growing number of people who follow whole foods, vegan and vegetarian diets.
Emma said there was a great response when they opened on the day of the last Treacle Market.
She said: “After several months of planning and refurbishment it was a real pleasure to see customers enjoying wholesome organic food and drink, chatting and laughing together and generally making Macclesfield the special place that it is.
“Thanks for all your comments and feedback - it’s really appreciated and means a lot to all involved.
“We’re up and running now and are looking forward to expanding our menu in the days and weeks to come.”
The cafe is a quite a career move for Joe and Emma, who moved to Macclesfield four years ago.
The couple met at university studying French and Spanish and before arriving in Macclesfield taught English abroad.
Joe is a freelance languages tutor while Emma is a trained reflexologist.
Joe, who has experience working in several cafes, previously told the Express he wanted the business to have a ‘holistic’ approach to healthy living with plans to offer a complementary therapy room for reflexology on the first floor, as well as regular workshops, talks and discussions on healthy eating and lifestyle.
The name Button Warehouse is a nod to premises former life as a loom shop selling buttons.
