Ladies up into second

-

MACC Town Ladies followed up their 6-0 win aganst Chester with a 3-2 success against Upton.

Within 10 minutes both Whitehead and Booth were unlucky not to open the scoring in what was a confident start from Macc.

They didn’t have to wait much longer, as Williams picked up the ball, skipped past two defenders drove forward and fired the ball home.

On the half hour Booth swung in a glorious corner which Woodward volleyed home to put Macclesfield 2-0 up.

This sparked Upton into life and Macclesfield were forced to defend for the remainder of the half, with Coombes in goal saving numerous times.

The second half continued as the first half finished with Upton having wave after wave of attack. Macclesfield held out for 15 minutes, but the pressure was too much and they conceded two in quick succession.

Macclesfield didn’t give up, and within two minutes had regained the lead, Whitehead and Williams linking up beautifully on the right to produce a fantastic cross for Booth.

With great strength she held off both defender and keeper to roll the ball into the empty net.

Upton tried to respond but thanks to the back four of Bennett, Woodward, Fogarty and the heroics of Coombes in goal, Macclesfield held on to win again, putting them joint second in the league.

Macclesfield Town Ladies will be holding an open evening for all aspiring girls who would like to play football, 10th & 13th October, information can be found on website WWW. macctownladiesfc. co.uk
