●● A THEATRE group is bringing its new show to Bollington.

Mikron Theatre, which tours the country by road or narrowboat, is always a favourite at Bollington Arts Centre and its latest show ‘Pure’ promises to sweeten audiences as it examines the business of chocolate.

The team of four actor/musicians have turned their talents to a number of gastronomic delights over the years; fish and chips, ice cream, beer and honey among them.

The fast-paced plot zips backwards and forwards through the years, throwing up facts and questions to ponder, all wrapped up in a package of live music and memorable characters.

Mikron welcomes theatre director, Stefan Escreet to the company this year.

Pure has been written by Richard Vergette, who has also joined Mikron for the first time.

Richard said: “Researching this play has been one of the most fascinating aspects of writing Pure and not because it’s given me an excuse to eat lots of chocolate.

“Discovering that child and slave labour are still features of chocolate production made me realise that while I wanted the play to celebrate chocolate, I couldn’t ignore the darker elements of its story either.”

Pure is at Bollington Arts Centre on October 14 as the company arrives in Macclesfield in its 45th year of touring.

Doors open at 7pm for the show at 7.30pm. Call 01625 574687 for tickets. ●● THE Adlington Road toilets are closed for refurbishment.

Work started on Wednesday, September 28 on the block in the car park at Adlington Road and was expected to take around three weeks.

A portable cabin is on site for public use during this refurbishment.
