THEATRE STAR

-

Name: Richard Comish. Home town: Macclesfield. Job: Accounts manager. Which theatre company are you involved with?: Bollington Festival Players. Are you taking part in any productions at the moment?: Yes. A double bill of The Fat Lady Sings in Little Grimley, and Little Grimley Presents Strictly Sex Factor (On Ice), both written by David Tristam. Who is your character in the play?: Gordon Ramsbottom, the rather self-important chairman of Little Grimley Amateur Dramatic Society. How long have you been with the Festival Players?: On and off for about 34 years. What do you like/dislike about the character you are currently playing?: Like - he forcefully speaks his mind! Dislike - Far too self-centred and loves the sound of his own voice (which gives the character rather a lot of lines to learn!) What do you most enjoy?: Playing interesting characters. Have you been in any other productions?: Quite a few over the years. Plays and musicals with various local societies. Who is your favourite actor and why?: John Hurt. He always makes his characters interesting and involving. If you could play any part what would it be and why?: Sweeney Todd in the Sondheim musical. Because it is a brilliant and challenging role, which would prove very satisfying to have performed well. Are you involved in any other projects at the moment?: Not at the moment. However, I will probably be involved in some capacity with the next musical performed by the Bollington Light Opera Group. What do you most enjoy about doing this?: The fun, camaraderie and being involved in an exciting project from its earliest rehearsals to the finished productions (with all its twists and turns). Any memorable/funny moments or highlights from this?: A memorable highlight from one of the past plays I have appeared in was playing a full-sized parrot in the opening scene from David Nobbs ‘Second from Last in the Sack Race’. It certainly surprised the audience, upstaged the rest of the actors on stage (much to their annoyance) and was the only part the audience seem to remember me playing, even though I’d played several others throughout the rest of the play. The Fat Lady Sings In Little Grimley and Little Grimley Presents Strictly Sex Factor (On Ice), October 19-22, 2016 at 7.30pm at Bollington Arts Centre. Tickets available by calling 07776 239613 or email bfptickets@ hotmail.com.
