a SPECial concert is being held next month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the East Cheshire Hospice Claritas Choir.

The evening of easy-listening, popular music classics – featuring talented performers – will be held at macclesfield methodist Church on Saturday, November 19, starting at 7.30pm.

Special guests include Stella Cole, hospice chaplain until 2012 and whose idea it was to form the choir in 2006, and linda Tyrer and her daughter Sally Dinnis.

linda, a hospice volunteer, set up and ran the choir as administrator until 2012, while Sally was musical director until then.

Originally the choir sang a capella until Kath ibbotson joined as mD in april 2012, conducting from the keyboard, after her retirement from teaching music at fallibroome academy.

Claritas has invited friends Sarah Barron, Kate Shaw, Joe ButlerSmith and Stagecoach macclesfield Singing Troupe to bring even more fun and variety to the occasion.

Sarah studies at Pendleton Performing arts College and recently directed a youth production of matilda, playing the part of miss Trunchbull.

Kate Shaw is alderley Edge festival Singer of the year for the second year in succession and teaches at the Seashell Trust while performing regularly with Romiley Operatic Society.

Joe Butler-Smith, aged 11, from adlington, played the title role of Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate factory in london’s West End from last October until may, starring in the role on television in Tonight at The Palladium in June opposite Jonathan Slinger as Willy Wonka.

Joe took the lead role of Joseph in a school production of Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and next year will be the lead in fame with Wilmslow youth theatre group, Tempo.
