YOUR THEATRE MANAGER
Name: Robert Copeland. Which theatre company are you involved with?: MADS Little Theatre, Macclesfield. Role: Bar and events manager. Are you working on any productions at the moment?: No, just finished Six by Tenn. How long have you been with the society for?: Since 2000. How did you enter this role?: I was chairman for four years and after that I became bar and events manager. What are you responsible for?: The bar: restocking, money for the till, paperwork. Events – making a social calendar of events for the members and producing those events for the members. What do you most enjoy about doing this?: People tell me how much they have enjoyed an event while it is still happening. What have been your highlights so far while doing this?: Our annual end of season BBQ is my favourite event, bouncy castle strictly for adults, loads of fun. What is your favourite place in Macclesfield?: Our theatre on Lord Street, a terrace street with lots of character. Do you have any favourite theatre productions?: At our theatre, Pocket Dream 2006 and London Assurance 2011. Professionally, The Tempest at RSC 1978, Boeing Boeing in London 2004. What are you reading at the moment?: Re-reading Terry Prachett’s Diskworld series, the new Jack Reacher book. What or who is your biggest inspiration?: At our theatre, trying to be as good as the professionals and we are not paid! Many professional actors I look up to, Derek Jacobi, Judi Dench.
