Win your own bit of Olympic his­tory

GUESTS at a win­ter won­der­land ball have a chance to own a piece of Olympic his­tory from Lon­don 2012.

Part of the run­ning track on which Usain Bolt, Mo Farah and Jes­sica En­nis-Hill won gold is a silent auc­tion item at the glitzy East Cheshire Hos­pice black tie din­ner at Mere Golf Re­sort and Spa on Fri­day, Novem­ber 25.

The com­mem­o­ra­tive frame-shaped Track in a Box is from the 100m straight at the Olympic Sta­dium and was re­moved dur­ing post Games re­de­vel­op­ment.

The run­ning sur­face is also on sale to the pub­lic at www. lon­don2012­track.com which has do­nated a piece to the hos­pice.

Hos­pice events man­ager Jes­sica Ruth said: “The track holds many amaz­ing mem­o­ries so we’re de­lighted its legacy will in­clude help­ing raise funds to care for pa­tients with life­lim­it­ing ill­nesses.

“This unique sport­ing mem­o­ra­bilia is one of our ex­cit­ing auc­tion items, while our raf­fle in­cludes a £10,000 di­a­mond do­nated by PR Jones Jewellers. It’ll be a great night of din­ing, en­ter­tain­ment and fundrais­ing.”

A lim­ited num­ber of tickets are still avail­able. A ta­ble of 10 costs £850 or £1,100 for a VIP pack­age. The evening starts with a drinks re­cep­tion at 7pm, with car­riages at 1.30am.
