Win your own bit of Olympic history

-

GUESTS at a winter wonderland ball have a chance to own a piece of Olympic history from London 2012.

Part of the running track on which Usain Bolt, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill won gold is a silent auction item at the glitzy East Cheshire Hospice black tie dinner at Mere Golf Resort and Spa on Friday, November 25.

The commemorative frame-shaped Track in a Box is from the 100m straight at the Olympic Stadium and was removed during post Games redevelopment.

The running surface is also on sale to the public at www. london2012track.com which has donated a piece to the hospice.

Hospice events manager Jessica Ruth said: “The track holds many amazing memories so we’re delighted its legacy will include helping raise funds to care for patients with lifelimiting illnesses.

“This unique sporting memorabilia is one of our exciting auction items, while our raffle includes a £10,000 diamond donated by PR Jones Jewellers. It’ll be a great night of dining, entertainment and fundraising.”

A limited number of tickets are still available. A table of 10 costs £850 or £1,100 for a VIP package. The evening starts with a drinks reception at 7pm, with carriages at 1.30am.
