24-hour gym is town centre boost

-

AN ABANDONED site of a former nightclub is being knocked into shape with the town’s first 24-hour gym.

Building work is underway on the Anytime Fitness gym at the site of the old Angels nightclub on Duke Street, which has been empty for three years.

The building is due to complete soon ahead of the gym opening in the new year, ready to attract post-Christmas gym goers.

It will be one of thousands of Anytime Fitness gyms worldwide which target fitness fans who want to work out through the night – with plans to open the gym all day every day.

Brother and sister James and Sophie Hoyle, who own the franchise and live in Didsbury and Hale, are building the gym, which spans over 8,000 sq ft, after Cheshire East Council granted planning permission earlier this year.

High-tech features include ‘virtual’ prerecorded fitness classes which can be viewed at any time.

Sophie Hoyle said: “We are really excited about being part of the Macclesfield community.

“Bringing this gym to the town centre and filling an empty building is helping to rejuvenate the town centre.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Hallams Property Consultants to bring Anytime Fitness to such a prime spot in the centre of Macclesfield.

“We will offer opening hours to suit those living, working or visiting Macclesfield town centre to fit in with busy lives. Convenience is crucial to Anytime Fitness and our model offers flexibility for all lifestyles.

“The luxury gym will be fitted out with the highest specification in cardio, strength and functional kit and there will be daily classes in the studio.”

The siblings have a branch in Knutsford and are opening another in Bramhall in January, with plans to open more across the area.

Memberships are on sale now at a discounted rate until the first week of January. Those interested can meet the team and sign up in their temporary office at 72 Mill Street.

Dan Rodgers from Hallams Property Consultants who marketed the site said: “We are delighted that Anytime Fitness is coming to Macclesfield, and the new gym will bring fresh vibrancy into the town.

“We wish Sophie, James and the team from Anytime Fitness much success.”
