IT company teams up with the Silkmen

-

IT solutions firm Axon has teamed up with Macclesfield Town FC to boost the use of technology at the club.

The Macclesfield company has installed a cloud computing solution to help the club with post-match analysis, improving team training to give the club a competitive edge.

Axon developed a Microsoft Cloud solution featuring Microsoft SharePoint Online, which enabled the club to record and upload match videos instantly to the club’s central hub from the Moss Rose ground and immediately download them at the Knutsford training ground.

Manager John Askey then uses video analysis in training, helping players improve their performance.

He has been using the new technology to analyse players’ free kicks among other tactics, but also to gain insight into the opposition.

Rob Heys, general manager at Macclesfield Town said: “Moving to the cloud with Axon has quite literally been a game changer. Ultimately the decision was made to make working easier and save money. The main reason for the move was financially based – the new solution has cut costs by eliminating the need for new servers and expensive kit, but it was also a good opportunity for the club to collaborate better. The technology looks very professional and it’s something the top league clubs use to analyse player performance and basically win more games.

“It’s all about percentages and doing it right. Players can look at the videos of matches, make improvements and get things right, which is playing a significant part in their match winning.”

Axon’s cloud solution also gives the club the freedom to work from any location, helping with company administration and revolutionising the way the club runs and trains.

Graham Fern, technical director for Axon said: “We believe that technology is changing. Cloud computing helps future-proof businesses and our customers benefit fully from our expertise in this area.

“We embrace the latest technology to enable our clients to work better, while providing an environment that people want to come to do business – on both a client and employee level.”

Axon is based at Guildford House on Heather Close.
