Arighi finds space to help florists blossom

- KAREN BRITTON

AFOURTH generation family firm with 160 years of history has teamed up with a new business to help give it a kick start.

Furniture shop Arighi Bianchi is working with friends Bev Coghlan and Megan Palmer, who run online florist The Flower House. The young florists have created a pop-up shop in the Arighi Bianchi cafe at its store in Macclesfield.

The floral displays have been an attractive addition for customers of the family business established in 1854, which employs more than 100 people from its Grade 2 listed building on the Silk Road.

Nick Bianchi, commercial director, said: “We’re delighted to be working with The Flower House and provide customers with another wonderful experience in store. We’ve had lots of positive comments as well as big smiles when flowers have been presented at lunch and it’s great to help a young business expand in this way.

“Our great grandfathers came to Macclesfield more than 160 years ago to set up their business and were given a warm welcome. It’s nice to be able to offer the same hospitality to a local entrepreneur as well as having the added bonus of beautiful flowers in store.”

The Flower House has an online presence but didn’t have anywhere to sell direct until a conversation with Arighi’s.

Beverley Coghlan, director of The Flower House, said: “We couldn’t think of a better place to have a pop-up and their positive response to our idea was fantastic.

“The store’s reputation for handcrafted, quality products is something we aspire to and we now have a fabulous retail space in their busy store. It’s a great place to meet people, talk about our bespoke floral designs, take orders and sell our flowers and plants direct.”

Megan Palmer, co-director of The Flower House said: “The family have been so generous, giving us the space to set out our stall. The advice and support we’ve received has been invaluable too and we already feel like part of the family.”

The Flower House also offers unusual plants and has a local delivery service.
