EAST CHESHIRE HOSPICE

-

MORE than 5,000 local children have been getting ‘fit and elfie’ while raising money for East Cheshire Hospice.

A new community event, the Elf Run, has attracted more than 30 groups, schools and businesses to take part in their own sponsored running or walking event in a bid to raise £30,000 for the hospice.

Replacing the Reindeer Run, which attracted more than 3,000 people last year and raised £22,000 for the charity, this year’s run has already proved a firm favourite.

Elf hats were distributed to all participants, from local businesses to nursery schools.

Organisers were even given a Santa outfit to complete the effect!

“This is our very first Elf Run and we’ve found that it’s just the right sort of event for everyone from tiny tots to fully fledged runners,” said community fundraiser Lisa Ball.

“It’s a great way to raise money while getting into the festive spirit.”

Groups and businesses taking part included a team from Macclesfield Harriers, the Congleton and District Youth 3A Walking Group and Macclesfield Lifestyle Group employees.

With elf hats running out fast, any schools or groups wanting to take part should contact the community fundraising team as soon as possible on 01625 664993 or email lballfundraising@ echospice.org.uk.
