Support group revamp

-

AN East Cheshire Hospice support group has reorganised.

Retired businessmen Chris Manley and Keith Jones have become involved in a changed committee for the Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge section.

They have replaced a group of long-standing friends who after many years of active service have decided to step aside.

During this period, they have made a big success of supporting the hospice.

The support group are arranging a schedule of fundraising events which will still include the popular November lunch at the Deanwater Hotel.

Chris said: “We aim to continue on the great strength of the Wilmslow support group and would like to thank everyone who has done such terrific work on behalf of the hospice.”

Keith said: “The hospice receives less than 20 per cent of its income from the NHS so relies heavily on fundraising. There are a few of us running the group and would welcome any help and ideas.”

Wilmslow is one of seven area groups, the others covering Disley, Macclesfield, Knutsford, Congleton, Poynton and Bollington. A new group may also start in Buxton.

Lisa Ball, hospice community fundraiser, said: “The support groups do an amazing job in the community providing much-needed funds so our patients, their families and carers can receive free care.

“Without their help we’d struggle and I know that all of the groups need more members.”

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Wilmslow group can email the support group at WSGECH@ gmail.com.
