LOTS of readers have been sharing their views on the police budget options. The police say people need to pay more, or lose up to 26 officers. Daley Sweeney: Pay more, at 6p a week its £3.12 per year. Also we should add another 2% for schools so the don’t lose their £1.5m either. Add to that the increase we already know of.... Dave Bingham: Pay nothing extra. Why should households fork out for it? Only working people pay council tax anyway, why not start handing out decent fines to people that commit crimes to raise the money instead? Maybe a fine for people being drunk and out of control or fighting on the streets might make them think twice about how much they drink and how they behave works, with speeding fines on the spot fines for possession of drugs. There’s many ways money could be raised get tough on crime leave our pockets alone. Janet Reeves: Pay more and keep police force. Perhaps less chiefs and more Indians. Martin Smith: Underfunding by the Tories, nothing more. Diana Waller: Definitely pay more. As above too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Get rid of some of those at the top. Dan Ackerley: Why do we need a Police & Crime Commissioner? Surely the clue is in the name... CHIEF!! Constable. Sack the PCC & staff and let the Cops run the streets. Cralg T Unwln: I would pay £10 a month extra, what can you get for a tenner these days? Come on peeps, its a pack of fags or four beers in a pub. Martin Ashberry: Pay more. Simple.
