Sylks Under 11s back with winning

THE U11 Sylks MTLFC were back in action this weekend after an extended break, their opponents Congleton Vale Juniors and Appleton.

There was plenty to shout about for this young team, with all the girls growing in skill and confidence since the beginning of the season, and these two games provided the evidence of this improvemen­t under the tutelage of formidable coach Monika Pollard.

The first game against Vale saw Eleanor Boyd thwarting the Vale attack with some tenacious defending, whilst at the opposite end it was the efforts of young Tatiana Pollard for U11 scoring a magnificen­t hat-trick, all long range shots which found the back of the net and her first since coming back from injury, that was all that was needed to win the first game.

The second match again was a one-sided affair, with girl of the game Holly Hurst who commanded the midfield providing the strike force the ammunition they needed. With Rosie Hague’s first competitiv­e it was clear it wont be long before she finds the back of the net with some near poached attempt, but it was Ebony Stewart with a clinical finish, along with strong forward holding play from Georgia Estrin and foraging right wing runs and link play from Beth Lomas. The set plays were well worked with short corners and waves of blue shirts descending on the Appleton defence and was left for Holly
