Luke in to provide lift

-

MACCLESFIELD Town midfielder Luke Summerfield is hoping to help his new team earn promotion back to the Football League.

Summerfield has arrived on loan from Grimsby until the end of the season, and started in the 1-1 draw with Torquay United on Saturday.

He is glad to be at the Moss Rose, and is hoping it will be a successful few months at the club.

“I’m really happy to be here. I wasn’t playing at Grimsby, I was desperate to go out and play games and enjoy playing football again,” he told the club’s official website.

“The move came about through the gaffer and I jumped at the chance – I spoke to the chairman and the manager here and I’ve only heard good things about this club.

“I started the season more or less playing every game up until just after Christmas, but it’s one of those things in football where you come in and out of the team.

“I’ve come here to help the lads when called upon to get in the play-offs – that was the main reason why I came here, to get a good push for promotion and also play some games.

“My aim really is to play some games, and also to help the club progress.

“If we can get in the play-offs and even get promoted then that’ll be brilliant for the club and for myself to be involved in something like that will be a massive bonus, and any way possible I’d like to do that.”
