Fallon double lifts Ladies to victory
MACCLESFIELD TOWN LADIES FC
THE only team to represent Macclesfield Ladies Football Club last weekend was the U13s team, their opponents being Crossfields U13s.
The first fifteen minutes proved a cagey affair with both teams probing each other’s defence, neither finding a weakness with both defences standing up to the sustained pressure.
It was MTLFC who broke the deadlock. Olivia Delany slotted a through ball to Lilly Fallon who smashed the ball straight at the Crossfield goalkeeper.
It rebounded into the path of Sara Dale, lurking outside the six yard box, and she calmly stroked it home.
It looked like this was going to turn into a rout with MTLFC having numerous chances but none converted.
Crossfields stuck to the task with sustained attacks, the Macclesfield defence soaking it up led by girl of the match Ellie Pollard who was constantly clearing the ball out of the danger area.
The second half continued much as the first half ended with Crossfields continually on the attack. This pressure was rewarded with a well worked moved that penetrated the Macclesfield defence to bring the scores level.
Not to be outdone, Macclesfield responded with another, once again Olivia Delany finding Lil Fallon whose angled shot found the back of the net.
Other notable chances went to Sara Dale who clattered a shot into the post and Susie Bridgette who puts her all in every match.
It was an entertaining display from both teams, the result keeping Macclesfield third in the league, two points behind leaders Runcorn linnets.
The U18s were also in action but were beaten 8-0 by second place Frodsham, not a good day at the office by this talented young team.
If you are interested in playing girls only football the club hold regular taster training session Monday and Wednesday evenings for age group U7-U18, and also have an open age football team.
