Fabulous five gain Oxbridge offers
A FABULOUS five King’s School students have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge universities.
Cricket captain Oliver Quinn, 18, from Macclesfield, has an open offer from Oxford to read English, meaning the university will decide which college he attends if he gets three A grades.
Oliver was highly commended in a national Cambridge University Spanish essay writing competition last year.
Rower Freddie Hayward, 18, from Macclesfield, may well be taking part in the Oxford Cambridge boat race after receiving an offer from St Peter’s College, Oxford to read politics, philosophy and economics.
Hockey player Eleanor Toms, 17, from Poynton, has an offer to read natural sciences at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and aspiring politician John Le Moignan, 19, from Whirley has an offer to read history and politics at Jesus College, Oxford.
Freddy McNulty, 18, from Congleton has won an offer from St John’s College, Cambridge to read mathematics.
Dr Julie Cocker, principal of King’s Sixth Form, said: “English, mathematics, science, politics and history courses are highly sought after at Oxford and Cambridge not just by British students but increasingly by students from all over the world, so these young men and women are to be very much commended for their hard work and natural abilities.”
