Kind-hearted Alfie takes on trek in name of friendship
ASIX-YEAR- OLD boy will climb Mount Snowdon in order to fund a ‘friendship bench’ at a preschool.
Alfie Frame, from Tytherington, is supporting Nether Alderley PreSchool’s fundraising scheme to buy new equipment for the for the play area, including a bench where children are encouraged to sit if they feel left out.
He said: “I want to help buy a friendship bench, so anyone feeling left out can find a friend.”
Alfie, who goes to Nether Alderley Primary School and has a brother Ollie and sister Ellie, has already begun training for the event, running and walking several miles each week to improve his stamina ready for the challenge.
This has included a nine mile walk through Tytherington, Hurdsfield, Rainow and Bollington as well as hiking in Goyt Valley.
Alfie will take on the challenge on April 28 and has set a fundraising target of £800.
Dad, Mathew, said: “Since we joined the school community at Nether Alderley a couple of years ago we have been made to feel so welcome.
“The sense of community at both the preschool and school is fantastic and this is an opportunity for us to give something back.
“As important as the fundraising element is, I hope Alfie’s challenge will also highlight the great work that the staff at both pre-school and school are doing.
“We’re so proud of Alfie for his determination to succeed.
“Alfie was born early while we were on holiday in Snowdonia and spent time in the Special Care Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor which overlooks Mount Snowdon.
“You might say that he overcame a mountain in those early days and he’s now returning to conquer his next.”
