Kind-hearted Al­fie takes on trek in name of friend­ship


ASIX-YEAR- OLD boy will climb Mount Snow­don in or­der to fund a ‘friend­ship bench’ at a preschool.

Al­fie Frame, from Tyther­ing­ton, is sup­port­ing Nether Alder­ley PreSchool’s fundrais­ing scheme to buy new equip­ment for the for the play area, in­clud­ing a bench where chil­dren are en­cour­aged to sit if they feel left out.

He said: “I want to help buy a friend­ship bench, so any­one feel­ing left out can find a friend.”

Al­fie, who goes to Nether Alder­ley Pri­mary School and has a brother Ol­lie and sis­ter El­lie, has al­ready be­gun train­ing for the event, run­ning and walk­ing sev­eral miles each week to im­prove his stamina ready for the chal­lenge.

This has in­cluded a nine mile walk through Tyther­ing­ton, Hurds­field, Rainow and Bollington as well as hik­ing in Goyt Val­ley.

Al­fie will take on the chal­lenge on April 28 and has set a fundrais­ing tar­get of £800.

Dad, Mathew, said: “Since we joined the school com­mu­nity at Nether Alder­ley a cou­ple of years ago we have been made to feel so wel­come.

“The sense of com­mu­nity at both the preschool and school is fan­tas­tic and this is an op­por­tu­nity for us to give some­thing back.

“As im­por­tant as the fundrais­ing el­e­ment is, I hope Al­fie’s chal­lenge will also high­light the great work that the staff at both pre-school and school are do­ing.

“We’re so proud of Al­fie for his de­ter­mi­na­tion to suc­ceed.

“Al­fie was born early while we were on hol­i­day in Snow­do­nia and spent time in the Spe­cial Care Unit at Ys­byty Gwynedd Hos­pi­tal in Ban­gor which over­looks Mount Snow­don.

“You might say that he over­came a moun­tain in those early days and he’s now re­turn­ing to con­quer his next.”
