Thorne looking to repay gaffer’s faith

-

MACCLESFIELD Town striker James Thorne is hoping to repay the faith that has been shown in him by manager John Askey.

Thorne has recently joined the Silkmen on loan from Championship club Nottingham Forest on an initial one-month deal.

He was previously at the Moss Rose a couple of years ago, before then making the switch to Forest.

The 21-year-old is excited to get some games under his belt, and wants to make an impact during his time at Macc.

“The manager John Askey showed a lot of faith in me when I was young and now he’s brought me back, so I can’t wait to get some first team football,” he told the club’s official website.

“I was at Macclesfield a few years ago when the chairman and the manager heard that I was playing again and they asked me did I want to come in and train with them and get some games.

“I then went to Forest and it’s been great there. There are some good people there that have helped me massively to get fit and get in a good place.

“I want to try and help the first team get to where they want to go which is promotion and winning cups, and I feel that I’ve been ready to help them for a few years so I’m itching to show what I can do.

“I’ve now come back to Macclesfield and there are a few lads still here who were here last time, plus the new guys have welcomed me in too so it’s not been a problem.

“There are some good players here and most of the team could play at a higher level. Quite a lot of them already have as well so that is good.

“Hopefully I can help the team get promotion so they can play at a higher level next year. We’re going for three points each week and that is massive.

“The club is trying to push up the league and I’m ready to help by showing them what I can do and adding to the squad.”
