Charity concert has something for all
A SINGING group which raises money for charities will perform a spring concert.
Capriccio Vocal Ensemble, set up to raise money for charity, will ‘Spring Into Song’ for the performance at the United Reformed Church on Park Green, with money raised going to the Macclesfield and District Branch of Arthritis Research UK.
It’s the second year running the choir has held the event, last year raising a massive £1,500 for the charity.
A spokesman for the choir said: “The programme for this spring concert includes music appropriate for the time of year. The group will sing English Madrigals by Thomas Morley, pieces appropriate for Lent, British folk songs arranged by John Rutter and foot-tapping settings of Cole Porter and Gershwin. Mindful of the date of the concert, there will also be a piece called ‘April’s Fool’.
“If you have never been to a concert of choral music and believe it would be stuffy and formal, think again. The atmosphere at a Capriccio concert is relaxed and informal and designed to appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes. Give it a go – you might be pleasantly surprised – and support a worthwhile cause at the same time.”
The concert is at 7.30pm on Saturday, 1 April. Tickets cost £10 or free for under 18s.
