Fallon’s hat-trick for Ladies

-

IN atrocious conditions MTLFC’s opponents at Moss Farm at the weekend were Chester & District for a mid-table tussle.

From the outset, Macclesfield showed a bit more determination than of late, and were quickly off the back foot, peppering the Chester goal with numerous efforts.

It wasn’t long before the Chester defence succumbed to the pressure. After conceding a corner, the ball was flicked in and with a cheeky back heel, new signing Lizzie Taylor put the ball in the back of the net.

The second soon followed from back to form Leah Hannagan with a curling shot past the Chester keeper to make it 2-0.

The second half continued in much the same vein with MTLFC continually pressing the Chester goal.

Step up Lily Fallon, with one of her powerful runs to score Macclesfield’s third.

She scored another two goals to make her hat-trick, one shot rebounding off the Chester goalkeeper and she converted the follow up.

To Chester’s credit they fought back to score a consolation goal, but down to the Macclesfield defence these chances were kept to a minimum.

This was a much better performance and an exceptional team effort, big mentions to Sara Dale, Alf Griffiths and Anna Melling all of whom performed with credit in such torrential conditions.

A return to form for Leah Hannagan saw her with win Girl of the match.

The U18’s were also in action with a game against Manor Youth which ended 1-1.

The result leaves them with a good chance of gaining third spot in the league, only three points behind.
