Council’s cash boost for ambulance service
THE air ambulance has benefited from a £2,000 cash boost thanks to the town council.
The North West Air Ambulance is a charity which helps reach, treat and transfer patients across the region.
Macclesfield Town Council made the donation to the charity to help them continue providing the service.
Councillor Chris Andrew, chair of Macclesfield Town Council’s Finance Committee, said the air ambulance increases patients’ chances of survival and reduces the risk of long term injury.
He said: “It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to present the North West Air Ambulance with this donation on behalf of Macclesfield, for their most valuable service and regular life-saving interventions. The work of this charity has helped so many people in the area; reaching the injured and unwell in inaccessible areas and saving valuable time getting them to hospital. On behalf of Macclesfield Town Council, I would like to thank them and provide them with this much needed funding as a sign of our support.”
Debra Millican, regional fundraiser for the North West Air Ambulance Charity said: “Just as many critically injured patients would not survive without the service that the charity provides, the North West Air Ambulance Charity would not be here without the support of its community of fundraisers and partners. The charity is completely reliant on public and corporate donations to keep the North West’s Air Ambulance Charity helicopters operational and helping to save lives.
“I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Macclesfield Town Council for showing their fantastic support as we wouldn’t be here without donations such as this.”
