Family to pull on walking shoes in memory of dad
FAMILY and friends of Walter Hewitt will honour his memory by taking part in the Starlight Walk in aid of East Cheshire Hospice on Friday (April 21).
Walter, a self-employed plumber from Congleton, spent five weeks as a patient at the hospice before his death from cancer last month, aged 66.
Walter’s Walkers will be among hundreds of walkers strolling through the picturesque grounds of Capesthorne Hall to raise funds for the hospice.
Daughter Katie Harrison, who works at Yorkshire Bank in Macclesfield, said: “Dad was looked after by the most amazing and caring staff you could ever wish for.
“Nothing was an effort, they made us feel like it was home from home and as a family we couldn’t thank them enough.
“Until he was admitted we didn’t really know much about what the hospice did but now we’ve been through the experience, we realise how vital fundraising for them is.
“As a way of saying thank you we’d like to raise as much money as we can to help continue to provide this fantastic care for people like my dad.”
Mum Barbara, sister-inlaw Caroline Hewitt, Diane Alcock, Diane Whitehurst, Jennifer Tonks, Cheryl Stoddard, Jodie Warrington, Jane Warrington and Tracy Goodwin make up their team.
To donate go to justgiving.com/ fundraising/KatieHarrison19 where you text the amount to 70070 using code WHWH88.
