Third phase of Local Plan launched
THE council has moved on to the third and final phase of the Local Plan - waste management and mineral identification.
The Local plan dictates what can be built in Macclesfield and across the borough until 2030.
The first part of the plan identified land for development and the second phase - which has just been completed - looked at what will be built in more detail.
Now Cheshire East Council is launching a consultation on the third and final part of its blueprint for development – the Minerals and Waste Development Plan Document (MWDPD).
This allocates sites and areas in Macclesfield where there is are mineral deposits, and looks at how the council will manage future waste needs.
Councillor Ainsley Arnold, cabinet member for housing and planning, said: “I would encourage all who have an interest in the areas of waste and mineral deposits – and who care about the future of our borough – to get involved in the consultation. The Local Plan is the council’s most important tool for shaping development in Cheshire East to 2030, so I would encourage people to take the time to share their views.”
The six-week consultation started on Monday (April 24). After this a draft plan will be prepared and a further consultation will follow.
