Day tickets on sale as more acts join the festival line-up

AMUSIC and science festival set to take place at Jodrell Bank has released day tickets to the event.

Single day tickets are now on sale for the Bluedot festival, which takes place over the weekend of July 7 - 9.

The headliners at the three day event are the Pixies, Orbital and Alt-J, who will perform alongside other big names including Soulwax, Ezra Furman and The Boyfriends, Warpaint, Andrew Weatherall, Goldfrapp, Vitalic, Hawkwind and Mr Scruff.

Astronomyy, Ten Fé, Toothless, Virginia Wing, DJ Woody, Diabel Cissokho are among the latest acts added to the bill.

Ben Robinson, festival director, said: “We couldn’t be happier with the response that this year’s festival has received and we’re delighted to announce day tickets are now on sale and to also welcome some fantastic additions to an already stellar line-up.

“We’ve raised the bar this year across the music, arts and culture spectrum and with more great acts and exciting announceme­nts still to come, we’re confident this will be the best year yet!”

Bluedot is a unique festival that fuses music, arts and culture.

As well as an incredible live and electronic programme, there will also be a hands-on Star Field and Planet Field where festivalgo­ers will be able to take part in live experiment­s and science discussion­s on top- ics ranging from the brain to bees, glaciers to the galaxy’s magnetic field.

Also on the bill is the BBC’s Dallas Campbell discussing how to leave Earth, Helen Czerski celebratin­g our oceans and Chris Lintott from the Sky at Night.

Visitors will learn about the hunt for extraterre­strial intelligen­ce from special guest Andrew Siemion from the University of California and Mike Garrett, the new Sir Bernard Lovell Chair of Astrophysi­cs at The University of Manchester.

Vinita Marwaha Madill, founder of the ‘Rocket Women’ website, will talk about her work designing space suits for the European Space Agency and the role of women in space, and Jodrell Bank’s Simon Garrington will talk about 60 years of science with the Lovell Telescope.

Day tickets cost £59 per person.
