MP hears of ‘outstanding’ success
A SCHOOL for children with learning difficulties welcomed the town’s MP for a special visit.
Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, visited Park Lane School to hear about Park Lane - rated outstanding by Ofsted - is a Special School for pupils aged two – 19-years-old with severe learning difficulties.
It is a Specialist School for Communication and Interaction, where staff provide education, care, support and encouragement to the students.
Mr Rutley met with staff and a group of pupils aged between seven and nine from the primary and Key Stage 3 departments.
Mr Rutley and head teacher, Lorraine Warmer, also spoke of the progression of the pupils through the school and the community based work experience placements on offer for students in local organisations.
The school works with a number of employers and voluntary organisations that offer work experience, but Ms. Warmer would like to establish more opportunities so the school can offer a wider range of placements for its older pupils.
Mr Rutley said: “It is clear that the school makes an invaluable contribution to the personal development to each of its students.
“I hope that more local businesses and organisations will show their support to the school and its pupils by offering much needed placements for the young adults who currently attend Park Lane.”
