Loanees leave as Lewis is lined up for award

-

MACCLESFIELD Town have seen two of their loanees depart over the past week after Jack Mackreth and Callum Evans returned to their parent clubs.

Winger Mackreth has headed back to Bury after making nine appearances for the Silkmen over the past two months.

He was previously at Macc on a permanent basis, before then making the switch to play at the JD Stadium.

Evans also departs the Moss Rose in order to re-join Premier League side Burnley. He made three appearances for Macclesfield during his time at the club but suffered an injury in the FA Trophy clash with Dulwich Hamlet, and hasn’t played for John Askey’s side since.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield’s Gary Lewis has been nominated for the 2016/17 Groundsman of the Year award.

The Silkmen will battle it out with Forest Green, Aldershot, FC United and AFC Fylde for the accolade. The Moss Rose pitch has been praised for the condition it has been in all season, and Lewis is delighted to be recognised.

“It’s great for me but it is great for the all the volunteers and the football club really,” he told the club’s official website.

“It is nice that people think of you. We are only on a small budget but we do our best. So it is really nice to put in the bracket of the sides that we are up against for the award.”

The results of the award will be revealed in late July during an event taking place at St Georges Park in Burton.
