AWOMAN whose ‘boyfriend cheated on her with a friend’ ended up in court after trying to sign them up to the Jeremy Kyle show.

Katie Goodwin, 25, was distraught when her boyfriend ‘started having an affair’ with her friend Charlotte Steele, the hearing was told.

Magistrates heard she bombarded Ms Steele with phone calls, accusing her of ‘stealing her man’ and warning that she would ‘win back her man’ soon.

The court was told that the ex-boyfriend – named only in court as Adam – played the two women off against each other.

Goodwin, of Copperfield Road, Poynton, contacted the Jeremy Kyle show to try to get them all to appear on the programme.

She was reported to the police for harassment by Ms Steele.

Prosecutor Tina Cunnane said she was ‘utterly persistent over several months’.

She said: “There have been numerous phone calls, sometimes as many as 20 or 30 a day. [Goodwin] said [Ms Steele] has stolen her man and it was only a matter of time before she got her man back, and other unsavoury messages.

“At Christmas, the complainant had 45 missed calls. [Goodwin] admitted contacting the Jeremy Kyle show as she wanted them all to go on the show.”

In a statement read to the court, Ms Steele said: “This harassment has got me down. I can no longer live a day without it being affected by Katie.”

Goodwin pleaded guilty to harassment between August 1 2016 and February 1 this year, and arranging unsolicited contacts by a third party or business.

She committed the offences in breach of a conditional discharge from January 2016 for common assault.

Richard Carlin, defending, said: “She made full and frank admissions at the earliest opportunity.

“She was extremely upset that the father of her child was cheating on her and this was exacerbated as he continued to have a relationship with her. He was setting them off against each other.

“She admits she took it too far.”

Goodwin was given a nine-month community order with a 10-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

She must pay a £100 fine, £85 victim surcharge and compensation of £75.

A 12 month restraining order bans her from contacting Ms Steele.
