DOZENS of readers expressed their concerns when we revealed council plans which could see the loss of evening and weekend buses (Express, May 10). Melanie Butson: There isn’t an evening or Sunday bus service for Hurdsfield now. Bus travel is very expensive in Macclesfield. £2.80 for one way. It’s cheaper to get a taxi if there’s two people. The subsidies are not being passed on to the paying customers now. There is no way to ask anyone about bus routes at the bus station. Instead you have to go to the information office at the town hall who don’t have any useful responses. The bus timetables on display in the bus station omit 95pc of the information you need. Mandy Reed: I honestly think it doesn’t matter who you vote for when it comes to public transport. Fares have been allowed to go up on Arriva buses to a ridiculous amount. £2.80 for a 4 min ride is scandalous. Lorraine Chapman: If the 130 gets cut on a Sunday that will seriously have an impact on my job. The number 9 is also on the list but in the evenings it quite often doesn’t run now. James Matty: Bus services cut and fox hunting legalised but let’s vote Conservative anyway just because we think Jeremy Corbyn is not electable. 8th June - VOTE LABOUR. Kirsty Stanley: Oh for the love of!! What does Mac- clesfield actually have to offer. No proper cinema. No buses. Even the charity shops are closing down! On a Sunday to get to Bollington it’s two buses on two different bus services which is ridiculous. The roads are full of pot holes. ***sigh*** Margaret Lovett: It’s all cut this and cut that ! It’s a disgrace. About time they started cutting some of the big wigs salaries Alison Tomkinson: Unreal, what is the point in having a bus service if they cut essential routes like these? Joseph Connor: A return train fare from Macc to Poynton is only £2.95 return with a railcard. Some single bus fares are much dearer than that just around Macc. No wonder no one is using the buses and why services are declining. Sharon Pollard: Does anybody know what the Tories are actually giving people in Macclesfield? People stranded again miles from town!! Sarah Hughes: So no school bus and now no service bus!!!!

LOTS of readers had kind things to say following a social media appeal for people to attend a war veteran’s funeral (‘Mourners wanted for funeral of war hero Harry’, Express, May 10) Bev Bennett: Harry’s had his Ashfields family to look after him and we will all be there to say goodbye to him xx we’ve looked after him up till the end. Karen Ainsworth: I will be there. It was a honour to look after him and hold his hand when he passed away. RIP Harry xxx Sarah Whalley: I will go. My dad is 94 and in a nursing home god bless him I couldn’t bear for him to have no one. What time is the funeral? xx Elizabeth Taylor: RIP Harry.... respect. Reunited with your wife, daughter, old friends and comrades. Helen Quin: I’m going. Respect for our heroes. Trevor Stokes: I’m going to go x Julie Saunders: Me and my mate will be there xx Liz Brooks: We will be there, it will be an honour.
