Kerridge kickstart the season with first win

- ADAM BANKS

AFTER two weeks of disappointing results Kerridge recorded their first win of the season with a convincing win over Hartford at Clarke Lane.

Winning the toss, the hosts opted to bowl first hoping for help from the overcast conditions.

With pace and bounce coming from a firm pitch Hartford struggled against the opening bowling attack, losing wickets almost immediately, Adam Banks (4/30) claimed four quick wickets to leave the visitors 23/4 off 15 overs.

Alex Grimes (3/23) paired with John Grayston (1/23) saw to the middle order before Carl Ryder after 14 overs of no reward claimed a final wicket of the innings to see Hartford finish on 117/9 from their 45 overs.

By the time Kerridge batted the sun had come out and they’d made 32 before the loss of Banks (24) edging to slip off Gopal (1/53).

Two further wickets then fell with the score on 59, Alan Harbige (16), and Josh Capper (13) both falling LBW to Praveen (2/28) and Dilworth (1/38) to offer some hope to the visitors but Luke Wild in at five starred with the bat punishing anything short or loose and had got his side within four runs of victory before being bowled by Praveen for 46.

John Grayston and Ste Regan saw Kerridge home inside the 32nd over , finishing on 120/4 to record a well deserved six wicket victory.

Match ball sponsor on the day was BC Transport.

Kerridge now have to travel to Frodsham on Saturday with renewed confidence in their game.
