Halls hoping to deny York hat-trick
ANDY Halls feels Macclesfield have already faced the very best York City have to offer.
The Silkmen lost out to the Railwaymen on both occasions when the sides met home and away in the Vanarama National League campaign. However, the double over Macc was one of few highlights for the Yorkshiremen, who suffered relegation to the National League North.
The drop came despite the club strengthening the playing squad significantly in the new year.
“It’s difficult to say where York City are at going into the final because we’ve played them twice this year and we’ve faced two completely different teams – and ended up losing both the games,” said Halls. “The last time we met, they were fighting for their lives. They had signed some really good players in January and I thought they were one of the strongest teams we had played all season when we faced them a couple of months ago.
“They have been relegated now and it might be a different scenario, three weeks after the end of the season. I am expecting a real test, but if we can play the way we have in previous rounds of the competition, then I feel we can do it.”
