Flower displays celebrated dance
THE beauty of dance inspired the latest demonstration enjoyed by flower club members.
Lynn Pickens, who was part of a team that won a gold medal at Tatton Park last year, was the guest demonstrator at Prestbury Flower Club this month, returning for the second time.
Club member Pam Piggott said: “Early in her career Lynn had been a dancer and she tried to express, through her flower demonstrating, the beauty of dance.
“Her first display was called ‘Twist and Shout’ using some lovely anthuriums, the second display expressed her feeling towards the Flamenco, which she had studied for a year.
“A homage to Darcey Bussell followed, based on a statue of two ballerinas. A piece of driftwood from Runcorn beach was the major part of the display, expressing the rumba.
“The American smooth, with its post war elegance, was next and burlesque – a feather boa with a dramatic vase full of pink hydrangeas – concluded the demonstration, which was enjoyed by all.”
The club will hold a competition for the Jessie Kite Petite Trophy at its next meeting on Wednesday, June 7, with guest demonstrator Zena Stone.
