PRIMARY SCHOOL FOOTBALL BEN DAVENPORT

ON Sunday, May 14 the 49th Macclesfield Primary Soccer Sevens took place at Hollinhey Primary School, Sutton: Sponsored by Reliance Networks.

This prestigious competition showcased the best in Primary School football.

Family and friends gathered to support the 8 Finalists in what proved to be a nail biting competition, and MTFC legend Danny Whittaker was on hand to present the silverware.

Marlborough Girls were victorious, defeating Upton Priory who put up a fine defensive display, but were eventually breached, losing 1-0 thanks to a fine long distance strike.

Rainow took home the spoils in the boys competition in their final against Puss Bank.

It was an end to end match, full of fine attacking football. The Player of the Day Awards were deservedly won by Neve Massey (Prestbury) and Thomas Hall (Rainow) who both contributed to their teams goal count on the day. Thomas was a constant thorn in the opposition’s side with his pace and trickery, while Neve’s vision and shooting prowess contributed to Prestbury’s impressive performances.

Neve Massey (Prestbury) and Rhys Egerton (Hollinhey) took home the Annual Penalty Shoot-Out trophies defeating boys and girls from across Macclesfield to claim their titles.

“It was a fantastic finals day played in a competitive yet good natured manner that was wonderful to watch.

“Well done to all that took part!” Ben Davenport, competition organiser.
