Andy has the recipe for award success
A FOOD firm has named its Employee of the Year after nominations by his colleagues.
Direct Food Ingredients awarded the crown to software developer Andy Watt for his work on the company’s IT structure and launching a bespoke intranet system.
Bosses at the firm, which is based on Waters Green, Macclesfied, say Andy is always on hand to help if a department has IT issues.
The valued team member was presented with a trophy by managing director, Steve Loake.
Andy said: “I was surprised to receive the award given the high number of talented and dedicated staff within the organisation.
“It has been an exciting 12 months within IT and I’m pleased that my work has had a positive impact.
“I’m looking forward to the next 12-18 months during which time we have plans to develop new systems, which will further improve the great service we are able to offer to our customers.”
The company began the Employee of the Year scheme last year as a way of commending the work that its team does.
Employees nominate one another each month by listing reasons why the person deserves the title.
In second place was Tom Mayer, who lives in Macclesfield, who has worked in quality assurance and customer service, and third place went to Bryan Dickie, a sales executive specialising in sports nutrition.
Steve Loake, managing director, said: “Andy has been fantastic this past year and so it is no surprise that he won Employee of the Year 2016.
“His devotion to the improvement of our IT system has been outstanding and it has helped to make everyone’s job that bit easier. Most importantly, our customers have really benefitted from the upgrade and each member of the sales team can now process 20 orders per hour, as opposed to just 21 per day through the old system. This ensures that we are consistently delivering our renowned ‘raving fans’ service.
Steve added: “On behalf of everyone within the company, we’d like to congratulate Andy, and give a big well done to Tom and Bryan too.”
Direct Food Ingredients’ head office is located on Waters Green in the centre of Macclesfield. The business is imports, stores and distributes functional foods, nutritional and sports ingredients as well as vitamin and mineral premixes.
