Award win for teacher who shines in arts education
A TEACHER was honoured at the North West’s cultural education awards ceremony.
Karen Fay from Fallibroome Academy was presented with the Arts Council England award for innovation and leadership in cultural education at the inaugural North West Cultural Education Awards.
The awards recognise the people and organisations who are working to improve access to great art and culture for children and young people. Awards were presented across 16 categories after winners had been selected by an independent panel of judges
The event highlighted best practice in the region’s arts and education sectors.
Peter Rubery, executive principal at Fallibroome Academy, said: “We are honoured and delighted to receive such as prestigious award which is true recognition of the quality of Mrs Fay’s leadership and the commitment of a talented group of teachers in the Fallibroome Learning Community and Trust. Many schools are responding to the Government’s drive to narrow the curriculum by cutting arts provision but our belief in the intrinsic value of the arts and the opportunities such provision creates for our students to develop key skills is reflected in this unique award.”
